Welcome To The Micromet Website

MICROMET is a research project (contract SD/NS/04A) funded by the Belgian Federal Government and implemented by the Belgian Science Policy within the Science for a Sustainable Development (SSD) programme. The first phase of MICROMET starts the 15th December 2006 and ends the 31st January 2009.

The second phase of Micromet starts the 15th December 2008 and ends the 31st January 2011.

The aim of the MICROMET research project is to understand the complex interactions between metal pollutants (i.e., Cd, Ag, Pb, Co, Ni) and the microbial communities living in marine sediments of the Belgian Continental Plate (BCP). The research project fits within two priority research domains of the SSD programme : the Biodiversity research area and the Marine Ecosystems research area.
