SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES
- Field measurements of CO2 flux by the accumulation chamber method on volcanic soils (Papandayan volcano, Indonesia; Stromboli and Vulcano volcanoes, Italy; El Chichón, Mexico). I have also developed a new approach for CO2 measurements on volcanic lakes (Kelud volcano, Indonesia; Santa Ana volcano, El Salvador; El Chichón, Mexico).
- Interpretation of CO2 flux data by using the graphical statistical approach and a stochastic simulation method in order to: (1) differentiate multiple gas sources of CO2 (2) map CO2 flux and see anomalies and (3) quantify the total CO2 output.
- Theoretical evaluation of energy and mass balances for a volcanic lake (Kelud volcano).
- Geochemical study and interpretation of hydrothermal fluids: major elements, isotopic compositions (d18O, dD, d34S) and thermochemical modeling of fluids (Phreeqci).
- Study of the mineralogy of altered rocks by scanning electron microscope and X-ray microdiffraction.
