Research project

Gabin Gbabode has worked on the structural characterization (powder X-ray diffraction) of organic compounds and binary mixtures of organic compounds (phase diagrams). In the framework of an "Interuniversity Attraction Pole" that brings together several Belgian universities (ULB, KUL, UMH, UCL), he will study the miscibility of discotic liquid crystals (tetra- and octa-substituted phthalocyanines). The project aims at investigating the mixing behavior of electron acceptor and electron donor components for the applications in photovoltaic cells. In addition, Gabin will be extensively involved in the X-ray diffraction (XRD) activity of the laboratory and will be in charge for the XRD characterization of the various materials from the group.
