FNRS

The FRS-FRNS (Fonds de la recherche scientifique) constitutes a major source of funding for fundamental research, with an annual average of €12m for research contracts, and €27m in research remits awarded to the ULB.

FNRS support is awarded based on scientific excellence alone, and comes in various forms: permanent or temporary research positions, funding for teams, funding for large pieces of equipment, scientific exchange credits, prizes, etc.

Among the research contracts awarded by the FRS-FNRS in 2012, ULB obtained 35% of PhD contracts, and 37% of post-doctorate positions.
