Collective Research Initiatives, ARC

Collective Research Initiatives (ARC) provide key support to fundamental research within the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. The funds awarded to the ULB are paid every two years by the Académie universitaire Wallonie-Bruxelles (ULB-UMons).

The projects, which are proposed by at least two different teams, are selected by a panel of international experts based on the excellence of the teams involved, the level of innovation displayed by the project, its coherence and relevance of the requested funding, as well as how well its teams work together.

For the 2012-2017 call for proposals, 13 projects are supported at the ULB with a budget of €7.3m: five science and technology projects, five life sciences and healthcare projects, and three humanities and social science projects.
