Le Centre poursuit ses recherches principalement selon deux axes : 1. « Mythologies en miroir » : recherche de mythologie comparée des Balkans, en particulier entre Roumanie et Bulgarie. 2. Approche anthropologique des relations Est/ouest liés à la « transition » , en particulier dans le domaine des relations interethniques telles qu'elles se présentent aujourd'hui, à la suite des mouvements migratoires provoqués par la « chute du Mur » , l'élargissement de l'« Europe » et l'accélération du processus de « mondialisation ».
