Pour obtenir une modélisation correcte de l'inlandsis du Groenland et de son influence sur le système climatique, les conditions initiales et les conditions aux limites doivent être bien connues. De telles conditions ont été appréhendées au Groenland central par une étude de la composition de la glace basale du forage GRIP et par une étude similaire le long de la bordure ouest de l'inlandsis. Des développements sont actuellement en cours [To obtain a correct modelling of the Greenland Ice Sheet and its influence on the climate system, initial and boundary conditions must be well known. Such conditions have been appraised in Central Greenland by a composition study of basal ice from the GRIP core and by a similar study along the western margin of the ice sheet.
