Cette étude vise à mettre en valeur la contribution de Bruxelles dans les progrès techniques liés à l'architecture et à la construction. Cette étude permet de réaliser un catalogue des ouvrages remarquables qui contiendra une explication des raisons techniques ou scientifiques qui justifient cette classification, la description de chaque ouvrage, une réflexion socio-économique dans lequel ils ont été réalisés, etc. Le projet Bruxelling, financé par la Région bruxellois, prévoit également la mise sur pied d'une exposition et d'un musée virtuel (site web interactif) permettant la diffusion de parcours dans la ville (à pied, à vélo, en bus, en bateau), d'une signalétique in situ et illustrant de manière conviviale l'histoire des techniques dans la ville. Tout au long du projet une attention particulière sera portée à la vulgarisation de ces techniques permettant à chaque citoyen de s'approprier la nécessité de la technique et la manière dont elle a été développée et appliquée. Enfin le projet Bruxelling prévoit une identification des ouvrages nécessitant une conservation ou une rénovation parmi les ouvrages répertoriés dans le catalogue. Pour chaque ouvrage concerné, le projet prévoit donc l'établissement d'un rapport décrivant et justifiant sa conservation et, éventuellement, les rénovations nécessaires. [The Bruxelling Project intends to emphasize the contribution of (the Region of) Brussels to the technical advancements in the fields of architecture and civil engineering : the project aims at reaching the public at large by means of various promotion actions. The Bruxelling Project will edit a catalogue featuring outstanding constructions, offering the technical and scientific reasons for their selection, their description, and considerations on the socio-economic context in which they were built. Another goal of the project is to organize an exhibition and create a virtual museum (interactive web site) that will advertise city tours (by foot, bike, bus, or boat), and install descriptive panels on site in order to illustrate in a convivial manner the history of the techniques in the city. The Project also actively participates to the Heritage Days in Brussels (Journées du Patrimoine). The viewpoint of the Bruxelling Project specifically focuses on the scientific, technical and technological innovations developed in the Region of Brussels, mainly during the 19th and 20th centuries. A special attention will be drawn to the popularization of the technologies, in order for each citizen to understand why technology is essential and how it was developed and used. Spreading the information to schools in the Region and on collaborative web sites (structurae, wikipedia) will be done as well. Finally the project is expected to identify in the catalogue the buildings in need of preservation or renovation; for each one of them, a report justifying its preservation or detailing the necessary renovation work will be drafted.]
