L'objectif général est d'élucider le cycle biogéochimique de Si dans le continuum de l'Escaut, ainsi que les perturbations d'origine anthropiques de ce cycle. Les objectifs spécifiques sont d'identifier les sources et les puits de Si dans le continuum aquatique et de quantifier les processus majeurs contrôlant le comportement biogéochimique de Si dans la colonne d'eau et dans les sédiments. Le but ultime est d'évaluer le budget de la silice et ses flux transportés par l'Escaut vers la baie sud de la Mer du Nord. [The overall objective is to elucidate the biogeochemical cycling of Si and its anthropogenic perturbations in the river-estuary-coastal zone continuum of the Scheldt.
