An international university in the heart of Europe

Nestled in the heart of Europe, the Université libre de Bruxelles has three campuses in Brussels, housing Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and technology, and the Health Pole, and one located some fifty kilometers south of Brussels, at the Biopark Charleroi.

Bustling with activity and undeniably multilingual, Brussels offers both the advantages of a culturally rich capital and the comforts of a friendly city on a human scale. Accommodations are reasonably priced compared to Paris or London, and the public transport network—whether it be travelling by bus, train (HST) or plane (Brussels National Airport and Brussels South-Charleroi) —is extensive.

Resolutely multicultural and international, the ULB takes pride in the fact that 43% of its doctoral candidates come from abroad and that a considerable number of its post-doctoral scholars are from foreign universities. The ULB’s research teams collaborate closely with a large number of foreign researchers, particularly those from its prestigious international partner universities.

ULB’s research centers work in French and in English, or solely in English, and doctoral students may write their thesis in English. The ULB encourages joint supervision of PhD theses with international universities.

The ULB’s Mobility Center helps international students and researchers to plan their stay in Belgium. The ULB also offers language courses for those who want to learn or improve their French.
