vs. torque for radial misalignment |
Reactions are small and do not depend on torque. Disk couplings are really flexible. |
Reactions are limited and somewhat vary with torque. Croset couplings are semi flexible. |

This page is in construction. It basically will tell that disc couplings
and croset (rubber block as above) couplings exhibit far lesser reactions
than gear couplings. Nevertheless, gear couplings are more compact than
other types for a given rating.. When well lubricated, they operate with
lesser losses than other flexible couplings according to Calistrat
[Calistrat,M.M.: Flexible couplings Their Design, Selection and Use
Caroline Publishing, Houston1994]. Besides, they may exhibit a good flexibility
in axial direction. Their major drawback is their important radial reactions
when misaligned and transmitting high torques.
