How to reach the SMA laboratory of The Free University of Brussels.

From the outer ring of Brussels.

How to reach us coming from Antwerp: thick black line.
  • From E19, take R0 direction Luik Liège, Namen, Namur
  • Follow the ring R0 until reaching E411 cming from Luxemburg Namen Namur (you are already inside the forest)
  • Then take right to Brussels downtown (Cnetre Centrum) and follow the urban freeway until its end near a fork (speed limit down to 50 km/h). You end up entering the the blue zoomed area with a fork.

  • At the end of the urban freeway, you reach two traffic lights. At the right of the first one, you see a Fiat dealer. At both traffic lights, you turn left, following the left leg of the fork surrounding the new campus of the Free University of Brussels.
  • You reach another traffic light where you see a Renault dealer. Take left.
  • You go over a railways bridge (the tracks are almost buried, so you won't see them). 
  • Always drive straight ahead along "Avenue de l'Université until you reach the entrance of the old campus in front of you.
  • Turn left (there are tramways tracks) on Avenue BUYL.
  • Drive two blocks along Av BUYL.The first street on your right is one-way, the wrong way for you You have to reach it from the other side. Take the second street on your right: Av. de l'Orée.
  • You reach Blvd F.D. Roosevelt  after one block (two lanes in each direction, separated)
  • Again turn right on Blvd F.D Roosevelt and again right into Av. Depage (the one-way street you couldn't reach first)
You are close to the Applied Mechanics department of the Free University of Brussels. Refer to the next map

On Avenue Depage, you can park on both sides (public parking).
In case you don't find some free parking places, you can drive into tghe private parking lots on the right-hand side ("parking verger terre battue": a formard orchard whre parking lots are available, may be muddy when it rains)
There is a porch in front of this private parking. Walk through it. On your right-hand side you see a high chimney. The lab is opposite this chimney. Push the door (porte E building E). Climb a few stairs. Leave the lift on your left and then bend right. Ring the bell. You are at the SMA!
