This new series, subtitled "Texts, Cultures and Peformances," will publish innovative research work in the field of twentieth- century dramaturgy, primarily in the anglophone and francophone worlds. Its main purpose will be to re-assess the complex relationship between textual studies, cultural and performance aspects at the dawn of this new multicultural millenium. The editor will welcome manuscripts dealing with the following topics : reconsiderations of established playwrights in the light of contemporary critical theories, studies of the interface between theatre practice and textual analysis, drama and multiculturalism, studies of marginalized theatrical practices ( circus, vaudeville etc.), postcolonial drama, new modes of dramatic and theatrical expressions and comparative drama studies. Works on dramatic theory (including theatre semiology) will also be considered. Manuscripts, written in English or in French, will comprise monographs, collections of essays, revised doctoral theses, high-quality Festschrifts and bibliographies.

This series will seek contributions ( monographs, revised theses, collections of essays ) which explore new territory in the the ever-evolving field of comparative literature. Manuscripts, written in English or in French, will typically deal with the interaction between various authors, literary genres and societies or cultures. The term "comparative" will not be restricted to the study of different national literatures. It will also refer to comparative studies within a single linguistic culture, e.g. in a multicultural society or a postcolonial country. As such, manuscripts will re-assess the complex relationship between margin and center. Manuscripts focusing on comparative literature as a way of exploring literary theory will also be considered ( particularly as regards literary evaluation ). For the most part, the collection will emphasize a non-Eurocentric perspective.
