Postdoctoral fellows - Functional characterization of G protein-coupled receptors
The Institute of
Interdisciplinary Research (IRIBHM,
http://www.ulb.ac.be/medecine/iribhm/) is the largest biomedical
research department of University of Brussels Medical School (ULB),
with state of the art facilities in imaging, molecular and cellular
biology and genetics. A strong expertise
has been established in the field of G protein-coupled receptors,
particularly the functional characterization of novel receptors.
The IRIBHM recruits post-doctoral fellows in the following areas:
- Regulation of inflammatory responses.
Delineation of the in vivo role and clinical relevance of recently
characterized G protein-coupled receptors. The function of the
receptors will be analyzed by using established knock out mice in
inflammatory disease models, combined with distribution studies in
human pathological samples. One position is dedicated to ChemR23, which
is involved in the recruitment of dendritic cells and the regulation of
immune responses. Strong experience in immunology, animal
models and/or histopathology is mandatory.
- New targets for Parkinson’s diseases.
Determination of the natural ligands and function of a set of orphan G
protein-coupled receptors expressed in the central nervous system, in
collaboration with a network of academic groups and industries. These
receptors constitute potential targets for treating Parkinson’s
disease. One position will involve the identification of ligands acting
on the receptors, another will analyze the function of the receptors in
mouse knock out models.
Experience in peptide/protein purification, or the generation and
behavioral analysis of knock out models, is a prerequisite. All
positions are open for at least two years starting immediately. Review
of applications will begin immediately and will continue until position
is filled.
Applications: Send a CV, a list of publications and the name of two to
three references to Marc Parmentier, IRIBHM, ULB Campus Erasme, 808
route de Lennik, B-1070 Brussels, Belgium. E-mail: mparment@ulb.ac.be.
