Frédéric Misrahi majored in law and minored in politics at the
Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). He is also Master in
International Politics (2001, ULB, summa cum laude), LLM in International
and Comparative Law, (2000, Vrije
Universiteit Brussel, magna cum laude), with a Certificate in Legal
Studies (1996, University of Aberdeen) and a Certificate from the
International Summer School on the External Relations of the EU
(2002, ULB/Michigan State
University).
After being a seminar leader on the MA in International Politics
(CERIS, ULB) in 1997-98, Fred briefly worked for an international
and EC environmental law consultancy (Milieu Ltd, Brussels) and
then became European affairs adviser to
Jose Daras, Green Deputy President of the Walloon government. He
later worked as assistant to MEP Pierre Jonckheer, Vice-Chair of
the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament, before becoming
a Marie Curie Fellow on ESDP
Democracy at the University of East Anglia (2003-04), where he worked
on the democratic control of the military in Turkey (see the website's
section on 'Publications'). He is a Belgian citizen, and was born
in 1973.
In 2004-05 Fred was an ESRC-supported first-year D.Phil. student
(PRS) at St. Antony's College, University of Oxford, under the supervision
of Dr. Philip Robins; the subject of his thesis is the political
economy of the EC-Turkey
Customs Union. In August 2005 he requested a suspension of that
status to become Internal Market Sector Manager (ALAT) with the
European Commission Delegation in Turkey.
He also plays the tenor saxophone and the clarinet.
