Jamie Woodbridge joined ISIS-Europe in November 2001 as a pre-doc
researcher on the ESDP Democracy project after a brief spell as
an MEP's assistant.
Jamie was born in 1978 and grew up in London. After graduating
from the University of Manchester with a BA in modern history and
politics in 2000, he spent the following year travelling and spent
three months in Strasbourg studying French as a participant on the
EU funded Leonardo da Vinci project. Returning to London in June
2001, Jamie subsequently made the decision to relocate to Brussels
in August as the first step towards a career involved in EU affairs.
He is currently busy with writing articles for the ISIS-Europe
publication, the European Security Review, with the present focus
being on the development of the EU's new civilian crises management
structures. Jamie is also involved in editing a number of briefing
papers which shall be published in the new year.
Jamie has a 1-year contract at ISIS-Europe and apart from his involvement
in producing and editing articles for the European Security Review
and ISIS-Europe briefing papers, he will organise and take part
in a variety of events and meetings throughout the year.
Although he has only just started out on his career path he does
intend to continue his formal education by undertaking a post graduate
course in the near future though he is not decided yet between a
MA degree or a full PhD. His main areas of interest are the changes
in the post September 11 security and foreign policy relationship
between the EU and Russia and the impact of this on the wider region
and NATO; the stabilisation process in South East Europe, in particular
the challenges posed by Macedonia; and the constitutional and institutional
ramifications of an enlarged EU.
