Dr. Gerrard Quille is Deputy Director and Post-Doctoral Researcher
on the European Commission funded project entitled 'Bridging the
Accountability Gap in European Security and Defence Policy' at the
International Security Information Service (ISIS) Europe, Brussels.
Previously he served as Deputy Director of ISIS UK, London where
he was also a Research Associate at the Centre for Defence Studies
(CDS) on a multinational project led by Prof. Air Marshal Sir Timothy
Garden and Prof. Michael Clarke entitled 'Achieving the European
Union's Helsinki Headline Goal.'
As well as a degree (BA Hons) in History and an MA in International
Politics and Security Studies, he has completed an Economic and
Social Research Council funded PhD, under the supervision of Prof.
Malcolm Chalmers at the Department of Peace Studies, University
of Bradford, on the role and conduct of Defence Reviews as a mechanism
in the UK's management of defence, in particular the thesis looked
at the UK's 1998 Strategic Defence Review (SDR).
His current research and publications continue to focus on the
following areas:
· Defence management in the EU's European Security and Defence
Policy (ESDP)
· The relationship between the EU's Security Strategy and
defence policy, operations and procurement;
· The EU's emerging Strategy in Non-proliferation and Disarmament.
· British Defence Policy post-1998 Strategic Defence Review
(SDR)
