Matus Korba studied at the Department of Politics, Comenius University
in Bratislava, Slovakia (1994-99). Currently he is completing his
PhD. there and writing the thesis on the Security and Defence Policy
of the Slovak Republic. He is also teaching the course "Introduction
to Security Studies". Since 1998, he is a member of the board
of Slovak Political Sciences Association, where he is co-ordinating
the Centre for Security Studies. He was an assistant within the
Security Education Management Project (1997-98) and the Program
on European Security (1999-2000) organized by the Dutch Centre for
European Security Studies in Groningen. In this framework he assisted
with organising seminars and conferences on security issues for
civil and military experts in Slovak Republic. He was visiting research
assistant at Centre for European Politics and Institutions, University
of Leicester in February - March 2000. Since August 2000, he has
been working for Slovak Foreign Policy Association as a co-ordinator
of partnership projects with the British research centre Saferworld,
London. These projects were related to arms trade and arms export
control issues in Central and Eastern European countries. Since
September 2002 he is a pre-doctoral research fellow for the "ESDP
Democracy" project at Institute of International Relations
in Prague.
