Dr. Marta Martinelli Quille is currently working as Research Fellow
at the Pole Bernheim for Peace and Citizenship,
Institute of European Studies, University of Brussels (ULB). Her
current research interests are on gender and conflict.
She recently completed her PhD at the Department of Peace Studies,
University of Bradford and at the Institute of European Studies,
University of Brussels, on the study of mediation of "intractable
conflicts".
Within the framework of the Department of Peace Studies' links
to the Copenhagen Peace Research Institute she acts as a project
co-ordinator in a joint research endeavor of the two institutes.
She collaborates with the Centre for Military and Strategic Studies
in Rome and with the Venice Peace Research Foundation; she is also
associated to the Institute of International Sociology of Gorizia
and with the University of Trieste (Italy).
She is the Convenor of the Commission on Intrastate Conflicts for
the International Peace Research Association where she has also
delivered papers at the Association's 17th and 18th General Conferences.
She has contributed to the training in EU Affairs for Eastern Diplomats
organised and sponsored by the European Union held in Cervia (Italy)
in October 1999. She has contributed papers and book chapters to
all the mentioned institutes. She has been a teaching assistant
for different courses in the Department of Peace Studies, University
of Bradford where she is also a member of the research group on
Conflict Resolution, Mediation and Peacekeeping at the Centre for
Conflict Resolution of the Department of Peace Studies. She is a
member of the International Peace Research Association.
Marta Martinelli Quille graduated with distinction in International
Affairs and Diplomacy (University of Trieste), holds a Master degree
in International Politics and Security Studies and a Diploma in
Research Methods (University of Bradford). She has spent some time
studying International Human Rights and Refugee Law at the University
of Oxford and has been a visiting researcher at the University of
Delft (Holland) in the framework of the EU Leonardo Programme. She
speaks Italian, English, French and some German. She is married
and has two children.
