Jesus Núñez is currently the director
of the Institute of Studies in Conflict and Humanitarian Action
(IECAH), since its establishment in 2000. He is also investigator
in the Studies Unit on Peace and Security (Autonomous University
of Madrid) and in the Group of Mediterranean International Studies
(TEIM - International Centre Carlos V, Autonomous University of
Madrid). He collaborates with the "Informe sobre Mundo Árabe",
in Arabian world themes, is annalist of the Transnational Studies
Institute (INET, Córdoba) and member of the Executive Committee
of the International Security Information Service (ISIS Europe,
Brussels). Jesus Núñez is also member of the International
Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and the Spanish Atlantic
Association.
He is author of some books and many articles, most of them on themes
related to development co-operation, fragile states, peace and conflicts,
international security, migration, humanitarian action and Arabian
world, with special geographical focus on the Mediterranean and
the Middle East regions.
Jesus Núñez has developed several assessor and consulting
works to Spanish official organisms ( Government Presidency, External
Relations Ministry, Defence Ministry), as well as to private and
non-governmental ( Doctors without Borders - Spanish, Intermón-Oxfam,
NGOs Coordination, IPADE). He also been evolved in several investigation
projects, namely: "Geopolitics of the Energy in the Mediterranean"
(Ministry of Defense, 2002), "the Euro-Mediterranean Conference
of Valecia" (Intermón-Oxfam, 2002), "Challenges
to the Consolidation of the European Union (security and defence)"
(Ministry of Defence, 2001), and direction and development of the
project on "Social Networks as Support to an Integral Development"
(Forum de Migrants de l'UE, 2001).
Jesus Núñez has also collaborated with several Universities
in their undergraduate and postgraduate courses, being main teacher
in several of them, namely: course on "Co-operation and Security
in the Mediterranean" (Doctoral programme in Mediterranean
International Studies, Autonomous University of Madrid); course
on "Changes in the Security Policy" and "Economy
and Defence" (Doctoral programme in Economics and International
Relations, Autonomous University of Madrid); course on "Specialist
in International Information and South Countries" (Complutense
University of Madrid); "Master in European Union's Studies"
(Universitary Institute Salvador de Madariaga, University of Coruña);
"Master in International Solidarity Action of Europe"
(Universitary Institute of International and European Studies Francisco
Vitoria, University Carlos III); expert course on "Inequality,
Co-operation and Development" (Complutense University of Madrid);
"Master in Development and International Aid" (Complutense
International Studies Institute, Complutense University of Madrid);
"Master in Development Co-operation and Management of NGOs"
(University of Córdoba and Intermón-Oxfam); international
"Master in Peace Studies and Development (University Jaime
I, Castellón de la Plana), among others.
In the framework of the ESDP Democracy Project, Jesus Núñez
is the Project Representative of IECAH.
