The Szeged Center for Security Policy is a joint project of the Municipal Government of the City of Szeged, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the University of Szeged.

The foundation has been set up by the founders to carry out the following public tasks on its own initiative:

  • promotion of the Euro-Atlantic integration of the region;
  • setting up and strengthening of relations and of dialogue between the Euroregion and the Balkan countries;
  • speeding up the process of democratisation in the region;
  • promotion of respect for human rights;
  • the prevention of crises;
  • the extension of the body of knowledge on the region;
  • the dissemination of accurate information;
  • the setting up of a venue for communication between the Balkans, East-Central Europe and Western Europe;
  • providing support for research in the field of security policy;
  • participation in the preparatory and education programs under the working groups of the South-West European Stability Pact where they concern human rights issues.
