Candidates for « aspirants FNRS » and FRIA with a foreign 2nd cycle diploma

Candidates holding a foreign diploma may apply for an “aspirant FNRS” mandate or a FRIA grant if they have obtained a decision of credit recognition (“Bologna” decree, 31/03/2004, art. 55, paragraph 1, 5°), as specified in art. 2 of the 23/06/2011 decree concerning measures about scientific research, public and school buildings, modifying the 20/07/2000 decree about higher education and scientific research.

The diploma equivalence delivered by the “Communauté française” is no longer required

The candidate has to apply for a PhD program , indicating that he has also applied for an “aspirant FNRS” mandate or for a FRIA grant.

If the candidate is admitted, the Registration Office will send him/her a letter of admission and first inscription to PhD studies, confirming the recognition of 300 ECTS, as required by the “Bologna” decree. A copy of this letter can be annexed to the FNRS or FRIA application file.

In order to complete the procedure in time, the application must be submitted at least 15 days before the FNRS or FRIA deadline.
