Research Centers

The University has two main missions: teaching and research. One of the core characteristics of university teaching is its close relationship with research activities. All teaching staff in the Faculty therefore devote part of their time to teaching and part of their time to research. The Faculty comprises six research centres:

  • the Research Centre for Psychology of Organizations & Institutions (CeRePOI)

  • the Research Centre for Cognition & Neurosciences (CRCN)

  • the Research Centre for Clinical Psychology, Psycho-pathology & Psychosomatics (CRPCPP)

  • the Research Centre for Social & Intercultural Psychology (CRPSI)

  • the Research Centre for Work & Consumer Psychology (PsytC)

  • the Research Centre for Education (CRsE)

Research Centre for Psychology of Organisations & Institutions (CeRePOI)

Director: Professor Michel Sylin

The research carried out in the Research Centre for Psychology of Organisations & Institutions deals, on the one hand, with the adjustment of social relations in organizations and, on the other hand, with ways in which individuals adapt to organisational norms and structures.

Research Centre for Cognition & Neurosciences (CRCN)

Director: Professor Axel Cleeremans

The Research Centre for Cognition & Neurosciences is composed of four groups whose research focuses on the mental and neural mechanisms of perception, learning, memory and language at all ages of life, and in the event of normal functioning conditions, disorders or deterioration.

Research Centre for Clinical Psychology, Psycho-pathology & Psychosomatics (CRPCPP)

Director: Professor Ariane Bazan

The CRPCPP comprises three teams whose research focuses on the analysis of the conditions of psychic functioning, in its subjective, interpersonal, social, cultural, institutional and neurobiological dimensions.

Research Centre for Social & Intercultural Psychology (CRPsI)

Director: Professor Olivier Klein

The CRPSI combines an experimental approach based on knowledge acquired through fundamental research with a multidisciplinary and pragmatic approach focussed on psychosocial and socio-political issues, which concern more particularly inter-group and intercultural relations.

Research Centre for Work & Consumer Psychology (PsytC)

Director: Professor Cécile van de Leemput

Strongly influenced by the foundations of work analysis, the research carried out by the Research Centre for Work & Consumer Psychology tries to apprehend the complexity of human behaviour and relations in the workplace and in consumption.

The research centre has an observation laboratory (U-LAB) for behavioural studies of the interaction between people and technologies.

Research Centre for Education (CRsE)

Director: Professor Sabine Kahn

The Research Centre for Education focusses on the study of the specific form of knowledge in class situations, the analysis of teaching practices and the mechanisms producing inequalities at school, the study and design of teaching methods that aim to foster pupils’ development and mobilization of competences, the study of teachers’ and pupils’ epistemological conceptions regarding scientific activity, and the analysis of the ways in which cultural diversity and diversity of beliefs can be managed in educational systems.
