Complementary Master in Public Health Methodology

Objectives:

The objective of the programme is to provide a large degree of autonomy in the use of public health methods and the transmission of this knowledge in professional life. Fundamentals of computer science are acquired at the beginning of the course. Both basic and advanced methods in statistics and epidemiology are developed through lectures and applications. Integration with other methods is illustrated in various fields: operational research, health planning, health services research, health strategies and demography. Participants are trained to communicate the acquired knowledge to their colleagues, through audiovisual and computer support.

The course is open to public health executives, medical doctors directed towards epidemiological methods, decision makers, health statisticians and research workers in the biomedical sector.

Programme:

The compulsory programme comprises 60 ECTS (or 462 hours of lectures, seminars and practice).

Two optional modules of 10 ECTS each are also available.

  • Statistical Methods (10 ECTS)

  • Epidemiological Methods (12 ECTS)

  • Planning, Management and Organization of Health Systems and Services (18 ECTS)

  • Qualitative Methods (4 ECTS)

  • Integration of Statistical and Epidemiological Methods (16 ECTS)

  • Communication and Information in Public Health (10 ECTS - optional)

  • Advanced Methods (10 ECTS - optional)

Admission criteria:

  • to possess a diploma at least equivalent to a master’s degree

  • to have succeeded 5 years of university education
