Non-standard courses (cours isolés)

Please note, this procedure does not concern ULB students who wish to anticipate courses of their current study course (see "cours devancés").Students from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Law and Criminology will have to refer to the specific procedures available in their faculty.

You may, in addition to your current course, also request to be accepted for a non-standard course (cours isolé).

Once the registration form has been downloaded, you will need to indicate the courses you want to take in the table foreseen for this purpose. The maximum number of credits approved for such courses is 15 ECTS. This figure is the absolute maximum, and no exceptions are made.

Approval will be given by the person in charge of each selected course. The form must then be approved by the faculty authorities. It is a good idea to contact the person responsible for the course before submitting the form for validation to the faculty secretary's office. Participation in practical work and exercises is subject to the same conditions.

The registration form, duly validated by the faculty, needs to be submitted at the Registration department before the 31st of October. The registration fee is set at € 27 per credit.

Passing exams in a non-standard course does not in any way result in a degree. Passing such exams just leads to your being awarded a pass certificate (Cf. Faculty secretary's office). As regards having the marks obtained in such non-standard courses transferred, it is a good idea to contact the secretary's office of the faculty in question.

Important information :

• Registration fees for non-standard courses are not reimbursable.

• It is important to follow the procedure indicated above. Incomplete forms will not be validated.

• In the case of registering in several faculties at once, you will need to fill in a form for each faculty, taking account of the 15 ECTS per year limitation.

Payment can be made personally at the payment desk of the Registration Department by means of a banking card (Bancontact/Visa). Cash payments are not accepted.

NB: 1 ECTS is equivalent to about 15 course hours.
