Title: The European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT/CEMT)
Description: The European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT) is an intergovernmental organisation for transport Ministers in European countries.
ECMT was founded in 1953, under a protocol signed at the time by 17 countries. Annual Ministerial meetings -- the last one was held in Budapest (Hungary) in May 1996 -- are prepared by a Committee of Deputies, supported by several expert working groups, consisting usually of Ministry officials. In addition, ECMT monitors research on transport economics and has an international documentation system.
There are 34 full Member countries, 6 Associate countries and 5 Observer countries. The work of the Council of Ministers is prepared by a Committee of Deputies.
