Founded in 1862, the Royal Botanical Society of Belgium is a bilingual organization (French and Dutch). The Society promotes botany through scientific research, publications, conferences and excursions. The Society publishes Plant Ecology and Evolution and distributes several awards for botanical research. There
are over 200 members of the Society, in Belgium and abroad. These members
are teachers, students, researchers, naturalists, nature reserve managers
etc. The society is open to anyone interested in Botany.
