The basic legislation dates from 1965. The November 23rd 2000, a completely new Aliens Law was adopted. It came into force the 1st of April 2001. This Law covers both Aliens and Refugees. Some implementation instruments have been adopted: an Aliens Decree of 23 November 2000 (which is not available in English) and an Aliens Regulation of 18 December 2000.
