Immigration :

The "loi modifiée concernant l'entrée et le séjour des étrangers, le contrôle médical des étrangers ainsi que l'emploi de main-d'œuvre étrangère" (amended law concerning the entry and residence of foreigners, the medical control of foreigners as well as the employment of foreign workers) of 28 March 1972 is the basic text. It is implemented by "Règlement grand-ducal relatif aux formalités à remplir par les étrangers séjournant au pays" (Regulation of the Grand Duchy concerning the formalities imposed on foreigners residing in the country) of 28 March 1972, the "Règlement grand-ducal relatif aux conditions d'entrée et de séjour de certaines catégories d'étrangers faisant l'objet de conventions internationales" (Regulation of the Grand Dutchy concerning the conditions for entry and residence of certain categories of foreigners falling within the scope of application of international conventions) of 28 March 1972, the "Règlement grand-ducal déterminant les mesures applicables pour l'emploi des travailleurs étrangers sur le territoire du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg" (Regulation of the Grand Dutchy determining the applicable provisions for the employment of foreign workers on the territory of the Grand Dutchy of Luxembourg) of 12 May 1972, the "Règlement grand-ducal concernant le contrôle médical des étrangers" (Regulation of the Grand Dutchy concerning the medical controle of foreigners) of 17 Octobre 1995.

Another important instrument is the "Règlement grand-ducal fixant les conditions et les modalités d'octroi d'une aide sociale aux demandeurs d'asile" (Regulation of the Grand Dutchy determining the conditions and modalities for the obtention of social assistance by asylum seekers) of 4 July 2002.


Asylum :

The "loi portant création d'une procédure relative à l'examen d'une demande d'asile et d'un régime de protection temporaire" (Act establishing an asylum procedure and a temporary protection regime) of 3 April 1996 modified by the Act of 18 March 2000 is the basic instrument. It is implemented by the "réglement grand-ducal portant application des articles 8 et 9 de la loi portant création d'une procédure relative à l'examen d'une demande d'asile" (Regulation of the Grand Duchy implementing Articles 8 and 9 of the law establishing an asylum procedure and a temporary protection regime) of 22 April 1996.

The other important instrument is the "loi concernant l'intégration des étrangers au Grand-Duché de Luxembourg ainsi que l'action sociale en faveur des étrangers" (Act on integration of foreigners in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and social action to the benefit of foreigners).
