The "Aliens Act" n°14 of 10 April 1935 is the main instrument on immigration. It was amended by the "Immigration Act" n°22 of 1999 with regard to expulsion. A further instrument is the "Illegal Immigrants Act" n°29/2000.

The "Refugee Act" n°17/1996 puts in place the legal framework for asylum cases. It was amended by the "Illegal Immigrants Act n°29/2000.
