Neža Kogovšek holds a degree in law from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Law, Slovenia, and Masters degree in international human rights law from the University of Notre Dame Law School, USA.

Since 2004 she works at the Peace Institute Slovenia as a human rights researcher, focusing on asylum, migration and discrimination. She has been cooperating with numerous national and international NGOs, UNHCR, and IOM, as well as with the University of Ljubljana where she cooperates in trainings within the Asylum Legal Clinic.
