| The World University Rowing Championship that will take place in Nottingham from August 22nd to August 24th, 2002 is well on track. The WUC Rowing is the highlight of a nine-day celebration of rowing. In addition the following events are offered: an adaptive rowing regatta, a schools rowing event, a rowing conference, a university sprint regatta, rowing taster days for the general public and a trade fair. World Class Venue The event will be based at the National Water Sports Center, Holme Pierrepont that has hosted a variety of elite-level rowing events. The Center is part of the Sport England National Centers Network, operated by Sport England in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council. It is the base for Elite-level canoeing and rowing in Great Britain. The eight-lane, 2,000 m Regatta Lake is extensively used for national multi-lane competition and is approved by the International Governing Body for Rowing, FISA. Easy access to the River Trent provides five miles of additional training water. International competition has been a regular feature since the course opened in 1972, with all British Rowing Championships (Schools, Universities an Open) hosted as annual events. The course lies about six kilometers from the Center of Nottingham, in the Borough of Rushcliffe, surrounded by the districts of Gedgling, Newark and Sherwood and within ten kilometers of the University accommodation. The Center has extensive changing and catering provision, twenty-four hour security, a modern gymnasium and warm-up facilities, complete with ergometers, on site. Entries General entries (notification and participation) must be received at least six months before the beginning of the championship, i.e. no later than February 22nd, 2002. Quantitative entries (confirmation of participation) with the number of officials and participants must be received no later than July 22nd, 2002. Nominative entries (conditions for participation) with the list of competitors and substitutes, the events in which they will participate, must be received no later than August 4th, 2002.
